The Immutable Word of God
I Pet. 10-11
Throughout all time people have gathered to study the immutable word of God. Using a few portions of the word of God, the speaker emphasized the importance of "proclaiming the word of God from an open Bible", although no one is saved by merely reading.
The speaker expressed his opinion on our secularized times in which Christian values are not viewed with the proper appreciation. According to him, people now often think that the Bible is restricted to some specific era, relevant only to the times in which it was written, and that It has nothing to offer to a person in this modern day and age. Jesus, as a historic figure, is thought to be merely the son of Joseph the carpenter, and He is not understood to be the Son of God, born of a virgin. The speaker comforted the listeners with the assurance that the Bible is, nevertheless, of the living and powerful word of God, which provides answers to many temporal questions. Using excerpts from several songs of Zion, he also reminded the listeners about God's caring for them, and His immeasurable mercy.
At the end of his speech, the speaker yet referred to the human lifespan. Even though we are aggrieved by the death of a youth, we need to remember that God uses a different standard of measurement than humans do. "A lifespan is exactly as long as God has decreed it to be."
