Esko Mettovaara
Listen to the Sermon
The word of the Lord does not fail to have an effect.
Esko Mettovaara had selected his text from the book of the Old Testament prophet Isaiah, Isa. 55:6-11. In its entirety, this text urges a human to seek God there where those who believe upon Him are gathered together. God's love invites all people to share His presence by believing the gospel.
The Bible exhorts us to disregard all obstacles to believing. Besides unbelief, evil thoughts can be obstacles. God does not require good deeds from a person, but only a humbleness of mind. Mettovaara comforts the listeners by pointing out that there is no person so evil that the forgiveness of God would not apply to him or her as long as he or she has a seeking heart.
The speaker especially reminds young people to make the correct choices. "Nothing is of greater value than having a personal faith in one's heart. It is unwise to reject this faith!"
The word of God refreshes the faith lives of the people who have gathered at these services. This word is abundantly offered during these days. Even so, the most important service guest is the Lord Jesus Christ - as an event, these services are not merely "a gathering of humans, but a summer festival that shall one day be celebrated in heaven."
