Summer Services Will Be Held This Summer on the Radio and Online
Scandinavia\u2019s largest religious event will be postponed for a year due to the Corona virus pandemic. The Board of Suomen Rauhanyhdistysten Keskusyhdistys (SRK [LLC\u2019s sister organization in Finland]) has made a decision to postpone the Reisj\u00e4rvi Summer Services to the year 2021. The plan was to arrange the services in Reisj\u00e4rvi June 26-29, 2020.
In recent years, approximately 80,000 guests have visited the Summer Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the new plan, the Summer Services will be held via the radio and internet in 2020, in Reisj\u00e4rvi 2021, Loppi 2022, Kauhava 2023 and Pudasj\u00e4rvi 2024. The SRK Executive Committee prepared this plan with those who are organizing services in the coming years. The final decision on who will hold Summer Services when will be made at SRK\u2019s Annual Meeting this fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe evaluated various options and their effects. We also had discussions with landowners in the localities where services will be held. In the warm-spirited negotiations, all parties had the will to find a common solution,\u201d says SRK Board Chairman Matti Taskila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There have been many requests and inquiries surrounding next summer\u2019s services. We have wanted to respond to those, even though it is now not possible to gather at services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNext summer it is possible to listen to God\u2019s Word via the Summer Services radio. The services will be arranged as radio services and video broadcasts,\u201d says Olli Lohi, SRK\u2019s Communications Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Summer Service radio\u2019s FM radio and internet broadcast will be on air June 24-August 3, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have received many requests regarding starting the radio broadcast earlier in the spring. We are currently exploring the possibility of launching online radio broadcasts as early as May,\u201d Lohi adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn many homes the Summer Services have been highly anticipated, so we are very happy that we can hold the services in Reisj\u00e4rvi a year from now anyway. Amid these exceptional times the joy includes the thought \u201cif God wills,\u201d says Taisto Peltoniemi, chairman of the Summer Services Executive Planning Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Executive Planning Committee will meet this month to decide on suspending services preparations as well as a schedule for when to resume preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been preparing for these services for several years. Now it is time to take a break and catch our breath,\u201d says Markku Poikkim\u00e4ki, Vice Chairman of the Executive Planning Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
