Visitor’s guide

Welcome to SRK’s Summer Services in Kauhava!

“Lord, it is good for us to be here.” Matthew 17:4

The Summer Services 2026 will be held in Kauhava from June 26 to 29, 2026. The motto, “Lord, it is good for us to be here,” warmly invites you as well to take part, either in person at Kauhava airport or through the various media channels. Our wish is that every visitor would feel that they are part of this great festive community and could share in the joy and unique atmosphere of Summer Services together with others.

The club area is an airfield near the centre of Kauhava, supplemented by cultivated field plots. Approximately 300 hectares have been set aside. The airfield was previously used as a flying school, which was closed down in 2014. Today, the airfield is mainly used for recreational flying. A summer meeting was held on the same site in 2023.

We warmly welcome you to Summer Services in Kauhava!

CONSERVATIVE LAESTADIANISM

Conservative Laestadianism is one of the revival movements within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Conservative Laestadians are members of the church and participate in the activities of both local parishes and the church as a whole.

In Conservative Laestadian sermons and other teaching, the sermon of Jesus’ work of atonement is central. Through His suffering, death, and resurrection, He has redeemed people from the power of sin. Through faith, a person becomes a partaker of this work of redemption, but without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is born through hearing and receiving teaching that is according to God’s word. It is entirely God’s work in a person, not even partly a person’s own merit or achievement. However, we believe that faith is visible in a person’s life through the works of love and fruits of the Spirit that it brings about, as the Bible teaches.

PRACTICAL TIPS FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS
  • Visitors move around the service site on foot, using the marked pedestrian routes.
  • The weather can change during the day, from sunshine to rain, so it is a good idea to dress for the weather and bring protection from rain or strong sunshine.
  • The mobile phone network may be overloaded due to heavy use, so it may not always be possible to stay in touch by phone. You can arrange meeting times in advance at a specific place on the service site.
  • It is a good idea to save the location of your lodging site or parking spot so that you can find it even without a network connection.
  • The map of the service site can be found in the summer service program booklet or by scanning the QR code.
  • The service program booklet is sold at cash registers and at the information point on the service site.
  • The sermons and songs heard from the loudspeakers carry over a wide area.
  • You are welcome to visit the food and coffee service points, stores, and kiosks on the service site.
  • The Suomen Rauhanyhdistysten Keskusyhdistys, SRK, publications store is located near the main area. There you can buy books and song recordings published by the SRK, postcards with photos from Summer Services, and also postage stamps. A mailbox is located near the SRK publications store.

SUMMER SERVICE EVENT

Summer Services is an annual services event organized by the Conservative Laestadian revival movement and open to everyone. It is also an international event and the largest spiritual event in the Nordic countries. Each year, Summer Services brings together 70,000 to 80,000 service guests from Finland and abroad.

A large number of service guests lodge on the service site in their own accommodations, such as a caravan, motorhome, or tent. In addition, other lodging options are also available, such as school lodging and lodging provided by private operators. These can be reserved in advance through the Summer Services lodging online store at kauppa.suviseurat.fi.

Sermons are given by both pastors and lay speakers and are held in the large service tent on the service site. In addition to sermons, a communion service will be held in the large service tent on Saturday, and a worship service and Sunday school will be held there on Sunday. In addition, programming especially intended for young people is offered, including song evenings and a youth evening. On Summer Services Sunday, church services will also be held in nearby churches in cooperation with the local parishes.

The printed service program booklet includes the daily service program and schedule. The service program and schedule can also be found at this link.

SUMMER SERVICES TENT

In the service tent, visitors quiet down to listen to sermons and sing Songs of Zion and hymns. Everyone is welcome to enter the service tent free of charge. You may sit on a service bench for one or more sermons, or simply stop by to visit the tent. The service tent has a pulpit decorated according to the Summer Services motto.

Ushers help ensure safety as people gather in the service tent. Please follow their instructions. Place strollers and wheelchairs along the wide aisles leading from the end entrances so that exit routes remain clear. Separate instructions will be given for the celebration of Holy Communion.

Summer Services has a communal, safe, and family-centered atmosphere. There are many children and young people on the service site, along with service guests of all ages moving around both on their own and together with others.

You are warmly welcome to visit Summer Services, to see and listen for yourself.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

Our shared goal is safe Summer Services.

Arriving at the Service area

1. When lodging on the service site, please pay attention to the safety of your lodging site. Make sure that rescue roads remain open around your lodging site throughout Summer Services.

2. The asphalt surfaces of the runways must not be dented or damaged. Place pads under the stabilizer legs of caravans and motorhomes.

3. It can be windy on the service site. Set up tent structures according to the manufacturer’s instructions. On paved surfaces, however, tent structures must be weighted down so that they stay in place in the wind. In other areas, you may use ground stakes. Fasten them securely and protect loose items from the wind. Be prepared to take down lightweight tent structures if necessary, such as caravan awnings.

4. In addition to the fire extinguisher in your own vehicle, find out where the nearest fire extinguisher is located and how to use it.

5. Do not bring pets to the service site (guide dogs are allowed). The use of skateboards, scooters, electric scooters, or other items that may pose a danger in crowds (such as balls and frisbees) is prohibited on the service site.

6. Review the map included with the service program booklet. Use the map grid to locate your lodging site. Write the location code on the lodging fee payment form and place the form somewhere visible.

7. Keep your lodging site tidy. Take all trash, toilet waste, and gray wastewater to the designated collection points on the service site. Do not dispose of any waste in nature.

8. If you use propane gas while lodging on the service site, leave the propane cylinder compartment unlocked and the crank visible. The use of camping stoves, heaters, and grills is prohibited on the service site. The use of a quiet generator is permitted during the daytime for health-related reasons.

9. Day parking is allowed only in marked spaces. Do not park on access routes or rescue roads. Bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles must be left in the parking areas reserved for them.

10. To protect the groundwater, please use biodegradable washing products in the showers and at handwashing points.

11. The Summer Services organization arranges all necessary services on the service site. Others are not permitted to bring services or their own content to the event, such as notices, written materials, or other materials to be distributed or sold. Demonstrations and activities that cause disturbance or harm at the event or on the service site are not allowed. If disruptive activity occurs, the organizing body is obligated to intervene and, if necessary, request assistance from the authorities.

WHEN YOU MOVE AROUND THE SERVICE AREA

1. Maintain good hand hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water before eating and after using the toilet. Hand sanitizer is available at the serving lines in the restaurant and grills, and it is sold in the store and pharmacy. Always use hand sanitizer on dry hands.

2. Those who come down with a stomach illness are advised to return home for care because of the risk of spreading infection. Infections spread easily in service site conditions.

3. Please avoid moving around the service site if you have cold symptoms or are feeling ill.

4. Equip your child with a name tag or wristband that includes the parents’ phone numbers. Wristbands are sold at the information point and in the store.

5. Take drinking water only from marked drinking water points, or purchase bottled water from the store.

6. Buy food from liter sales only for one meal at a time, as food spoils quickly in warm weather.

7. Place strollers and wheelchairs in the service tent along the wide aisles leading from the end entrances so that exit routes remain clear.
